How long can an executive or manager stay in the United States on an L-1 visa?
Executives and managers may stay in the United States for up to seven years. Depending on how long your U.S. office has been in business, an L-1 beneficiary will generally be allowed to stay in the U.S. for an initial period of one to three years. After that time, the L-1 visa can be renewed. A nonimmigrant L-1 visa can lead to a maximum of seven years in the U.S.

Can an L-1 visa lead to a green card?
An L-1 visa may or may not lead to a green card. The L-1 visa is a nonimmigrant visa, meaning it will not result in permanent residence. But someone who meets the requirements for an L-1 visa stands a good chance of meeting the requirements for an immigrant visa based on the same requirements.

Yes, the spouse and minor children of an L-1 visa holder qualify to come to the U.S. as derivative beneficiaries.
Is there a minimum amount of money a company must invest in the U.S. to obtain this visa type?
There is no minimum investment required for the L-1 visa, but finances can play an important role in the application process.
Can a brand new U.S. office bring an executive or manager to the U.S. with an L-1 visa?
Yes. An application for someone who will be working in a brand new office will be held to slightly different standards than an application from an older operation.
